A DRUG driver was over three times the limit when he was caught driving on a busy Herefordshire road.

Konrad Wszolek, who is from South Bank in Whitestone, near Hereford, was behind the wheel of a black Volkswagen Polo VRM on the A438 by Durlow Common, between Trumpet and Tarrington, when police officers stopped him at 11.50am on July 9, 2023.

Lauren Millichip, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court, said there was no reason given for them stopping him; however, they asked him to provide a roadside drug test, which was positive.

He was arrested and taken to Hereford Police Station. A further test showed he had 181 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite for cocaine. The legal limit is 50mcg.

"He has no previous convictions and is a man of previous good character," said Ms Millichip.

"There is no suggestion of any bad driving."

Representing himself, Wszolek said he was pleading guilty to drug driving and accepts the punishment.

The 25-year-old was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £346.

He will also have to pay court costs of £135 and a government surcharge of £138 respectively.
