A HEREFORDSHIRE road will be closed 24/7 for nearly three months.

The C1233 Pontrilas village road will be shut from March 18 so that a retaining wall along the road can be strengthened. Balfour Beatty said it will take up to three months to complete.

There will also be two-way temporary traffic lights on the B4347 at the junction with the C1233 while the works take place.

A diversion will be in place via the C1233, A465 and B4247, and vice versa.

"The type of work we’re doing will mean we need to fully close a section of the road for the duration of the project – that will be 24/7," said a Balfour Beatty spokesperson.

Pedestrian access through the road closure will be maintained, but there will be no access for vehicles through the road closure due to the amount of machinery and equipment which will be on site.

"There will be dedicated marshals on-site during working hours to assist you with any queries about access. On-street parking within the road closure will also be restricted.

"To ensure that we are able to undertake the works without any delays, we kindly ask that residents who normally leave their vehicles in this area find alternative parking."

The spokesperson added that Balfour Beatty will be working with Welsh Water, who will be completing works under the road closure as part of the enabling works for the retaining wall structure.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you," said the spokesperson.

"At Balfour Beatty, we work in partnership with Herefordshire Council to minimise the impact of our work and try to keep all disruption to a minimum - we appreciate your patience."
