A HEREFORDSHIRE restaurant and takeaway is reopening today (February 1).

China Boy Jo, situated in Ross-on-Wye, is welcoming people back today after a break from serving food.

The owner had temporarily closed the restaurant on November 2 due to medical reasons, but has now recovered from an operation and reopened the premises.

China Boy Jo, based in the town's Gloucester Road, serves plenty of Chinese favourites, such as seafood, crispy aromatic duck, egg fried rice and noodles, as well as sides like crispy seaweed, vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers.

A sign on the door of the restaurant says: "We are thrilled to announce that China Boy Jo is back in business. Thank you all for your patience and understanding! See you on Thursday, February 1."

A previous statement given by the restaurant on social media, after it had initially planned to reopen in December, said: "My sincere apologies for the inconvenience of being closed. This is due to my major operation.

"I look forward to seeing you when I reopen in the new year. I will open as soon as I am recovered."

China Boy Jo's Trip Advisor page currently appears not to be active, but it has previously received large amounts of excellent reviews.

In 2020, one reviewer wrote: "We are so lucky to have this utterly fantastic non-greasy Chinese food. A few dishes are more Malaysian in origin than Chinese (more coconut, satay, etc). Nevertheless, you will find this to be one of the most tasty and very healthy Chinese takeaways."
