GREEK food is one of my favourites, so when an already popular Hereford business opened a new restaurant, I was keen to give it a try.

Mr Gyro in West Street is a very casual and relaxed restaurant with Greek-themed decor. It feels like being transported to the Mediteranean in the centre of Hereford.

The restaurant's exterior is also striking, with a blue and white colour scheme.

When we went in, we were invited to sit wherever we liked so we chose a table by the window.

I ordered a refreshing Diet Coke to drink while I read the food menu.

I tried a gyro (pronounced yee-row, I believe) plate, and it was a large platter of meat, chips, salad, bread and tzatziki. I paid £13.50 for it, which I thought was great value.

When the food arrived, I was taken aback by how large the portion was. I admired my lunch and took a few pictures before tucking in. I was very impressed with the flavour of the chicken and fresh salad.

I couldn't finish the plate of food as it was so filling, and I left Mr Gyro feeling very full.

I was equally impressed with the design of the restaurant, which paid homage to the Greek theme without being overdone.

And it seems I am not alone in enjoying the food at Mr Gyro, as it has an average of 4.1 stars on the takeaway app Just Eat.

This may be my new favourite restaurant in Hereford, and Greece has bumped its way up my list of future holiday destinations. I'll see you for a bit of island hopping this summer...
