Football fan caught with cocaine at Hereford FC match

Mitchell Lewis entered a guilty plea to one count of possessing a controlled class A drug when he appeared before magistrates in January.

The court heard from prosecutor Lee Stone that 37-year-old Lewis, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Callum Morris, had been caught in possession of a quantity of controlled class A drug cocaine at The Lamb Ground in Cross Street, Tamworth, Staffordshire, on August 28.

Hereford FC had been playing Tamworth FC at the football ground that day, a match that the home side won by four goals to nil.

Magistrates in Cannock handed Lewis, of Hinton Crescent, Hereford, was fined £300 for the offence, saying that they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty, while the cocaine was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.

Lewis was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £185 and a £120 victim surcharge.
