STORM Jocelyn brought strong winds to Herefordshire overnight.

Several roads were either partially or fully blocked by fallen trees, while many homes were without power.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to many incidents involving fallen trees.

Crews were first called to the A438 at Letton shortly before 3.30pm yesterday (January 23) where a large tree had fallen onto the road. The incident was left with the police and highways, with no injuries reported.

The fire service was then sent to Callow at just before 8.55pm after electrical cables were resting on four terraced properties. Advice was given to occupants to remain indoors, with the incident left with National Grid. There were no casualties.

There were then fallen trees in Pontrilas and Hereford that crews were called to.

The former happened at 9.30pm, while the latter, which was in Aylestone Hill, was just after 11.10pm. The highways department was informed of both incidents, with no casualties reported.

Other roads reportedly affected included the A49 Hereford to Leominster road at Dinmore, the A4103 Hereford to Worcester road at Fromes Hill, the A438 Hereford to Ledbury road, and the A4110 near Knapton.

Power has been restored to most homes as of this morning (January 24); however, some are still affected. This includes 61 properties near Wigmore, 45 between Walford and Hom Green near Ross-on-Wye, and two south of Shirl Heath, near Kingsland.
