A HEREFORDSHIRE school will be closed tomorrow as flooding continues to cause havoc in Herefordshire.

Westfield School in Leominster has announced that it will be closed on January 4.

A spokesperson for the school said that they were taking the precaution of remaining closed on Thursday, January 4, after the unpredictability of river levels today.

The spokesperson said it was unknown in advance how many staff would be able to safely access the school, while a possible repeat of this afternoon's rapid rise in water levels would put the school's pupils at risk were they to be in school.

The school is hoping to reopen to pupils on Friday, January 5.

There are currently eight flood warnings in Herefordshire, with river levels still rising in areas across the county.

A large number of roads are also closed countywide today after disappearing under water.
