A HEREFORDSHIRE business is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year.

Discover Parks' owners Glenn and Hannah Jones have marked 25 years of owning  Pearl Lake Country Park in Shobdon, which they acquired in 1998.

Pearl Lake is one of three holiday parks owned and run by the Jones family, and provides five-star holiday homes, self-catering accommodation and touring facilities.

Mr Jones said: "It's hard to believe a quarter of a century has passed since we walked through the gates as owners. It's been exciting and a bit overwhelming.

"We've reached an incredible milestone and are extremely proud of our success but couldn't have done it without the support of our team and the wonderful homeowners who make the park what it is today.

"We had an owner who suffered a major stroke and Pearl Lake organised a charity bike ride. Funds went to the Stroke Support Association which helped him. People care about each other at Pearl Lake. It's their second home and a very special community.

"My parents Olive and Alwyn Jones have given us invaluable advice and huge support throughout, particularly in the early years."

They held a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the milestone, as well as announcing that they will donate £25,000 to charity — £1,000 for each year of the business.

Staff and holiday homeowners past and present came to the event, along with Herefordshire Council chairman Roger Phillips.

The country park consists of 20 acres of ancient woodland and the largest glacial lake in Herefordshire.
