A HEREFORD man has been banned from the roads after he was caught illegally driving more than 150 miles from home.

Ardian Gjeta entered guilty pleas to one count of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, one of failing to stop when required by a constable, and one of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance to magistrates in Worthing.

The court heard from prosecutor Megan Attree that the 25-year-old had been caught out in Oldlands Way in Berstead, West Sussex, after getting behind the wheel of a silver Vauxhall Vectra on September 14.

He did not have a licence or insurance entitling him to drive the car on the roads and failed to stop when required to do so by a police constable on that date, the court was told.

Gjeta, of Hinton Road, Hereford, was fined £333 and received eight penalty points for the offences.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £133 and an £85 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
