A Hereford Indian restaurant has had its alcohol and late food licence suspended with immediate effect after a member of staff was found to be working there illegally.
A meeting of Herefordshire Council’s licensing subcommittee on Wednesday (November 22) had been called to rule on the licence of Razbari restaurant in the city’s Eign Street, where police arrested a Bangladeshi man in a joint agency operation last week.
The meeting was held largely in closed session, “as it is likely we will discuss individuals’ details”, committee chair Coun Polly Andrews said.

She later announced that councillors, having heard “compelling and credible” representation from West Mercia Police, as well as from a representative of the licence holder, had decided to suspend the premises licence immediately as an interim measure, ahead of a full review on the case which will be considered on December 14.
The restaurant had previously lost its licence over a similar issue, though under different management.
