A COMPANY director has been fined by magistrates after failing to comply with an order to change his company's name.

Igor Zhurkin and Label Luxe Ltd were proven guilty of one count of failing to comply with a direction to change the name of a company which was similar to an existing name by magistrates in Worcester in November.

The court heard from the prosecutor that Zhurkin, who was not present at the hearing, had been the director of a company, Label Luxe, which had been directed by the Secretary of State to change its name.

But, between January 24 and May 31, Zhurkin had failed to take all reasonable steps to cause the company to comply with that direction, contrary to the Companies Act 2006.

Label Luxe Ltd had failed to change its name between the same dates, despite being directed to do so, the court heard.

Zhurkin, whose registered address was listed by the court as Bridge Street, Kington, was fined £220 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £1,000 and an £88 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.

Label Luxe Ltd, of the same address, was fined £500 and ordered to pay a £200 victim surcharge.
