CHRISTMAS is approaching, and Hereford's scouts are ready and waiting to deliver cards across the city.
Hereford's Scout Post will be marking its 40th year of deliveries this year, having missed a year in 2022 due to Covid, after launching in the city in 1982.
Scouts from six groups will be collecting cards in Hereford.
Hereford group scout leader Chris 'Tosh' Ruffe said collections are sadly unable to match the price of 1982, when it cost just 3p to send a card, with each card costing 45p to send this year.
"While there are only six scout groups involved now, it is great to see the people of Hereford and surrounding areas still supporting us," he said.
"We have made many friends over the years, and we would really like to increase the number of cards collected this year."

"2024 will be a special year for scouting in Herefordshire with the completion of Scout’s Corner, South Marches Scouts District Headquarters. This project was also being spoken about in 1982, so it shows that all things come to those who wait!"
