A DRINK-DRIVER was caught over twice the limit twice in the matter of days.

Lee Cook, of Emlyn Avenue, was first driving his black Vauxhall Astra on the A438 in Bartestree in August 28 when he had 84 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Then, four days later, on September 1, the 47-year-old was again stopped by police. This time, he had 85mcg per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Mark Hambling, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court, said Cook has previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol, which included a community order and a 24-month disqualification in 2021.

"This is repetitive behaviour and quite high readings," said Mr Hambling.

In defence, Marilena Di Vitantonio said her client has pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

"Mr Cook cooperated on both occasions and engaged with the police," she said.

Cook was handed a 12-month community order, which includes carrying out up to 12 days of rehabilitation activities.

He has also been disqualified from driving for three years, which will be reduced by three months if he successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course.

Court costs of £185 will also have to be paid.
