A TEENAGER was over twice the limit when he was caught behind the wheel in Herefordshire.

Benjamin Wootton, of Lower Tre-Fal-Du Lane in Dingestow, Gwent, had 140 millilitres of alcohol in 100ml of urine when his Ford Fiesta was stopped in Gorsley, near Ross-on-Wye, on February 25. The legal limit is 67ml.

The 18-year-old, who was represented by Michael Horne, pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court last month.

He was handed an obligatory 12-month disqualification from driving, which will be reduced by three months if he successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course. 

He was also fined £231 and told to pay prosecution court costs of £135 and a government victim surcharge of £92 respectively.
