A SCHOOL has been awarded top marks and rated ‘outstanding’ again by Ofsted inspectors.

Harvington CE First School in Evesham received a glowing review from Ofsted which said the school was a “happy and joyful place to learn” that left pupils “extremely well prepared” by the time they left.

Ofsted gave the school an ‘outstanding’ rating across the board with the highest possible grade in every category including the quality of education, behaviour and personal development.

Inspectors said the school was “calm, orderly and purposeful” with pupils who showed “extremely positive attitudes to learning … who wanted to learn well.”

“Pupils learn to be independent and confident,” inspectors Ofsted said in a report based on the inspection in July.

“They have deep pride in their school, taking ownership of many tasks, privileges and responsibilities. This gives them a deep-rooted sense of belonging.

“They start each morning with beaming smiles that broaden through the day.”

The school in Village Street was last inspected in 2017 when it also received an ‘outstanding’ rating.

“Pupils benefit from exceptional educational experiences at Harvington CofE First School," the report said.

“The school’s strong Christian ethos permeates all aspects of school life. Pupils care about one another and look after each other. Adults also live the school’s values by treating pupils with respect and listening to them carefully.”

Ofsted said the school’s leadership was “inspirational” and the feedback from parents had been “overwhelmingly positive.”

“Leaders are determined that all pupils reach their full potential. They have designed a curriculum that ensures this vision is realised.

“Nothing is left to chance.”

“Leaders have created a culture of continuous learning and professional development for staff. Teachers, relevant to their experience, are suitably expert … This helps pupils to keep up and make strong progress through the curriculum.

“As a result, pupils know more and can do more in all of the subjects they study.”

Dr Chris Davies, chair of governors at Harvington CE First School, said: “This well-deserved report reflects the hard work and dedication shown daily by every member of staff, the positive attitudes and commitment shown by pupils and the dynamic and effective leadership of the leadership team.

“Governors are proud to be associated with this school and will support the school in continuing to thrive.”
