A LANDMARK pub that is by one of the busiest routes in Herefordshire is currently closed 'due to staffing issues'.

Thousands of vehicles pass the Trumpet Inn on a daily basis, due to it being at a crossroads that links both the Hereford to Ledbury and Leominster to Gloucester roads.

However, a sign outside the pub says it is closed until further notice 'due to staffing issues'.

A comment on Tripadvisor that was posted by reviewer alane232 last week also indicates that it could soon be under new management.

The post reads: "We stayed overnight in a little camp field out back, basic facilities but only £23 with EHU, good food in pub but will be under new management soon so not sure what the future holds. Let's hope so."

Overall, the Trumpet Inn has attracted a four star rating on Tripadvisor from 538 reviews.

Doz1988 said: "Had a tasty and well prepared meal here with a couple of friends. More noteworthy than this was the exceptionally friendly, welcoming and professional service from the staff. Recommend a visit for food and drink if passing or staying nearby."

Shell C added: "Very friendly and accommodating, put tables together in the bar for us. Great Food, generous portions, proper homemade Onion Rings. Would definitely recommend a visit."

The Trumpet Inn is operated by Wadworth. The Hereford Times has contacted the brewery for a comment, but at the time of writing, it has not responded.
