AS we enter the final week of August, here is what we can expect from the weather for the week ahead, and for the coming month of September, according to the Met Office.

Monday, August 28

Having had a mild start to the day, today (August 28) is expected to remain dry with a few bright, sunny intervals developing. The temperature will feel pleasant in the sunnier breaks, with light winds. The maximum temperature will be 19°C.

The Met Office says it is likely to stay dry for all this evening and overnight, but it will turn chilly under the clearer skies and in rural spots with light winds.

Tuesday, August 29

We might see a few light showers on Tuesday, which will become more widespread into the afternoon. However, the Met Office expects occasional sunny spells in between, with a pleasant maximum temperature of 20°C in the sun.

Outlook for Wednesday, August 30 to Friday, September 1

On Wednesday, we're likely to get a mixture of sunshine and showers, and perhaps some humidity. This will become more unsettled with the transition into September on Thursday and Friday, with cloudier skies and outbreaks of rain bringing in the month.

Long-range forecast for September

Although the end of August is likely to fizzle out with a spattering of rain, sunny spells may develop over the first weekend of September. However, further ahead, the weather will be generally changeable, but hopefully we will hold onto some drier and brighter spells in between possible showers and spells of rain.

Forecasting for the rest of September, the Met Office said: "There are presently no strong signals for any particular weather type to dominate during this period, but slowly evolving weather patterns seem most likely."
