AS a former student of Mordiford C of E School I found your recent write up in the Hereford Times of great interest (Village school marks its 150th anniversary, July 20).
It should be noted that a previous student namely John Preece went on to play professional football for not only Hereford United but Gloucester and Merthyr Tydfil.

The other person worthy of a mention of course is Maud, who legend says rescued a dragon. A statue of Maud with the young dragon can be found opposite the Moon Inn.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
To learn of Maud and the dragon you need to take the Mordiford Dragon walk, which starts from the statue of Maud and continues on the foot path past Mordiford Mill.
It is well sign posted and I can well recommend the walk, which is about a mile and a half in length, so not to exhausting and you can have a pint at the Moon Inn afterwards.
