AN AUDI driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught speeding on a busy dual carriageway.

Roger Vogels entered a guilty plea to one count of exceeding a 70 miles per hour speed limit to magistrates in Cheltenham.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 57-year-old had been caught breaking the limit while behind the wheel of an Audi SQ5 in a 70 mles per hour zone on the A417 dual carriageway at South Cerney in Gloucestershire on March 10.

He had been clocked speeding by manned camera equipment, the court heard.

Vogels, of St Andrew's Close, Moreton-on-Lugg, was fined £660 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 56 days for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £110 and a £266 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
