A HOME for vulnerable people has been saved from closure after a change of management.
Some residents had lived at Newman’s Care Home in Leominster since it was set up nearly 50 years ago. If it had been forced to close, they said they would have had nowhere else to go to suit their needs.
Les Newman, the owner of the former Newman’s Care Home, said: “With such a long history, it is nice to know that this legacy will continue. Knowing that the current residents will continue to live in their homes is wonderful.”
Now renamed Pump Piece, the home has been renovated with an extension that improves access out of the home and into the garden.

Not only has it meant less disruption to those living in the home, but the change in management has granted residents new independence as the home shifts to a supported living model. They are now looking forward to getting more involved in the local community.
Paula Hoggarth, group operations director at the care company Radis said: “It’s an honour to be able to help the residents of Pump Piece to stay in their homes, with the added benefits of helping them live fulfilled lives with more independence. I wish them many more years of comfort and fun in the place they love to call home.”
Pump Piece supports people with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and physical disabilities to live independently.
