A DRINK-driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught out while more than twice the limit.

Marian Ion entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in May.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 28-year-old had been caught out in Hereford's Edgar Street after getting behind the wheel of a red BMW 523 on April 29 while over the drink-driving limit.

Ion, of Burgess Street, Leominster, was handed a 12-month community order with 40 hours of unpaid work and disqualified from driving for 23 months.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £114 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
