Hundreds sign up to be dunked in slime and paint in Hereford

St Michael’s Hospice has announced that places for its first-ever Messy Runner on Saturday, June 17, are becoming limited after hundreds snapped up tickets shortly after they went on sale.

The family-friendly event is an expansion to the hospice’s popular Paint Runner fundraiser which ended last year. Those taking part will make their way along a 3k circular route at Hereford’s King George V Playing Fields while being dunked in slime, covered in paint and drenched with water.

“We’re so excited that Messy Runner is almost here, particularly given the support we’ve received from the community through ticket sales,” said Natasha Walshe, event organiser for St Michael’s Hospice.

“There’s still time to guarantee your place at what is sure to be one of the highlights of the summer.”

A DJ and dance warm-up will get fundraisers in the mood, and alongside the slime, paint and water, there will be a foam party to round off the fun.

The powder paint used during the event is biodegradable, non-toxic and will wash off. The event will be sponsored by Hereford-based Easy Garage.

Alongside the entry fee to the event, St Michael’s is encouraging entrants to raise sponsorship for the Hospice, with a suggested minimum of £15.

St Michael’s provides palliative and end-of-life care to families across Herefordshire and beyond.

It relies on community support to fund the majority of its care, with funds from this event heading straight back to the charity.
