One of Ledbury’s hidden gems is preparing to open for the first time this year.

Ledbury Heritage Centre, in the Old Grammar School in Church Lane, opens on Saturday, April 1.

It will then be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of October.

The atmospheric building has had many different uses from its beginnings when it was built in 1489 by East Anglian Woollen merchants.

OTHER NEWS:

It’s also been a Latin Grammar School, accommodation for five families in the 19th and 20th centuries and was converted to the Heritage Centre as we now know it, by Malvern Hills District Council, opening to the public in 1978.

On Saturday, March 25 there will be tea and cake on offer to visitors, who are invited to drop in between 10am and 1pm.

It’s a chance to talk to volunteers and find out more about the building.

The centre currently has more than 50 enthusiastic volunteers and more join each year. If you are interested in joining them, call 01531 633637.
