AN ACCUSED Herefordshire man has been sent for trial after denying committing a racially aggravated offence.
Christopher Wood appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January accused of one count of causing racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, and one count of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
He entered a not guilty plea to the first charge, and a guilty plea to the criminal damage charge.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 35-year-old is accused of intentionally causing a man in Ross-on-Wye harassment, alarm, or distress by using racially aggravated threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour on July 1.

He admitted destroying a pane of glass worth £150 at Gwalia Stores in Ross on the same date, intending to destroy or damage it or being reckless as to whether it was destroyed or damaged.
The case was sent for trial and Wood, who is of Old Tannery Way in Ross, was released on unconditional bail.
He will appear before magistrates in Hereford next for trial on March 30.
