A REPEAT offender Mercedes driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught driving without insurance.

Owen John Florence of Homend Crescent in Ledbury, appeared before magistrates in Redditch for sentencing in January after he was proven guilty of one count of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance at an earlier hearing in November.

OTHER NEWS:

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 29-year-old had been caught out behind the wheel of a Mercedes without a valid insurance policy in place in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, on April 22.

Florence was fined £350 for the offence, received seven penalty points, and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months, with magistrates saying disqualification was obligatory due to his repeat offending.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and a £90 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
