A TRACTOR driver has been handed a hefty fine after he was caught committing two offences on the busy A49 in Herefordshire.
Richard Rees entered guilty pleas to one count of driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or public place without due care and attention and one count of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January.
The court heard from prosecutor Sarah Hurd that the 59-year-old had driven a John Deere tractor without due care and attention on the A49 at Wellington in Herefordshire on March 22 last year.

He had also been driving that tractor without a valid insurance policy in place on the same date, the court was told.
Rees, who is of Wellington, Herefordshire, was fined a total of £1,200 and received six penalty points.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £400 and a £120 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
