AN ABUSIVE banned driver has been barred from a Herefordshire Wetherspoon pub ahead of his sentencing.

Nathan James entered guilty pleas to nine charges when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster in January.

The court heard from prosecutor Owen Beale that the 26-year-old had used threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman and a man with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence in Leominster on September 13.

He had been caught driving a Renault Modus in Leominster's Corn Square while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence, and without a valid insurance policy in place on the same date.

The court heard he had also driven a Ford Fiesta without a valid insurance policy in place and while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence in Lacey Road, Ludlow, on January 6.

He had again driven the same car on the A49 at Ashton, Ludlow, on January 7, also while disqualified and without insurance, and while over the drink-driving limit, with 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out by the probation service and James, who is of St Peters Square, Lucton, will appear before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing on February 1.

He was bailed with conditions not to enter the Dukes Head in Leominster or contact the two victims.
