A FARM park and cafe popular with Herefordshire families will close temporarily because of the cost of living crisis.

The Cob House Country Park and Mayfly Cafe at Wichenford, about 12 miles east of Bromyard, is to close for the whole of January (traditionally its quietest month) owing to financial pressures.

Its owners said the cost of living crisis has forced them to take the decision.

The business is known for its reindeer, goats, pigs, alpacas, chickens and ducks with a cafe, lake, outdoor space and a play park for children.

The business shared its announcement via Facebook which reads:

"As everyone knows, the cost of living is ever increasing. This is having a huge effect on our business with our general suppliers and utility supplier prices, continuing to rise.

"January is historically a very quiet month for us, with sales low and costs extremely high we have made the difficult decision to close our doors for the month of January.

"We are doing this to protect the future of our business in the hope to ride out this ‘storm’.

"Therefore our doors will be closing at 12pm on 31st of December until the 1st February 2023.

"We want to thank every single person who visited us during 2022. We hope to see you back in 2023.

Thank you again for your support, Guy, Luan and the team at The Cob."

The post added said the attraction is open today (Friday, December 30) and Saturday until midday.

They also said that fishing matches booked will go ahead as scheduled.
