THERE have been two very special deliveries at Hereford County Hospital – Christmas Day babies!

Midwives and new parents were delighted to welcome two special deliveries at Hereford County Hospital on Christmas Day, Sunday 25 December 2022, with the arrival of two baby girls.

The first, weighing 6lbs 9oz was Mia Zheng, who is pictured with her proud mum Xiao Wang. Her dad is Jian Kang-Zheng. Mia was born at 3.55am.

The second to arrive (at 10.07am) was Bonnie Cooper, who weighed 7lbs 5oz. Her parents are Rosie and Chris Cooper.

As is the tradition at the hospital, the families were given a special Christmas bauble to remind them of the birth in years to come, and the little ones were also given a Christmas hat.

Amie Symes, associate director of midwifery at Wye Valley NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “It has been such as joyous occasion for new parents and our fantastic midwives to celebrate the arrival of our special Christmas babies born at Hereford County Hospital on December 25, 2022.”

“Every baby is a blessing, but Christmas babies have a very special birthday. It was lovely for our midwives to present the families with their special bauble and Christmas hat.

“Our dedicated and experienced teams are here to help and support expectant mothers, parents and their new babies both in hospital and at home.

"Our community midwifery and health visiting teams continue to provide specialist support when parents and their babies are discharged from hospital, which includes help and advice on infant feeding and caring for your baby.

“From all the maternity team at Wye Valley NHS Trust, we wish the families of all babies born both at Christmas and throughout the year, a very Merry Christmas.”
