A POPULAR restaurant in south Hereford has made an announcement regarding its opening hours for the festive season.

Mcdonald's drive-thru and restaurant has said it will open on Christmas day morning from 7am until 11am, serving its breakfast menu.

The menu includes Mighty McMuffins, Breakfast Rolls, Sausage and Egg McMuffins and Pancake and Sausage with Syrup.

The decision to open on December 25 follows the outlet opening on the last two Christmas Day mornings, in 2020 and 2021.

This decision sparked debate last year and split opinion, with James McLelland from Hereford describing the decision as a "travesty".

He said: "Although it will fall on deaf ears I echo Beefy Boys call: Ronald, give your staff the day off."

However, Lyndon Booth from Ross-on-Wye argued that McDonald’s will cater worldwide for many thousands of people, most of whom would be home alone on Christmas Day or cannot afford £75 for a hotel lunch.

He said: "The joy of hot food to eat in or take away, together with a cheery word from the staff will probably be the only contact with the outside world – the highlight of their day."
