WITH so much to juggle in the kitchen on Christmas morning, the family chef is likely to welcome a quiet hour or so with a glass of fizz while everyone else heads to the local pub for a pre-lunch tipple.

Open 12pm to 11pm for drinks. Christmas dinners can be picked up on Christmas eve to heat at home.

Hogarths will be open on Christmas Day from 10am until early hours of Boxing Day.

The gin bar has invited people who may otherwise be alone can enjoy a free mince pie and mulled wine.

The King's Speech will be shown at 3pm.

The Barrels, St Owen Street, Hereford

An 18th century coaching inn formed partly from the old city wall, and one of the last multi-roomed pubs in Hereford, The Barrels is open from 11am to 1pm for drinks only.

A down-to-earth drinking establishment, The Barrels was Wye Valley Brewery's home for many years and attracts an eclectic clientele who come for the lively, friendly atmosphere and, of course, excellent beer.

The Lichfield Vaults, Church Street, Hereford
