SOARING prices for, among other things, food and fuel are making this a difficult Christmas for many of us.

Nevertheless, we know how generous Hereford Times readers are at this time of year.

That is why we are asking you, as we do every December, to join us in helping those more needy than ourselves.

We want to ensure as many local families as possible have enough fresh food to feed their families properly over Christmas.

In launching the Hereford Times Christmas Appeal 2022, we are joining forces with Herefordshire Vennture, a charity with Christian values that runs what it describes as “significant, substantive, sustainable programmes that make a tangible difference for people facing considerable challenges”.

Hereford Times: Hereford Times Christmas Appeal 2022

Growing use of local foodbanks stands as evidence that many families, through no fault of their own, are finding it difficult to make ends meet.

We want to ensure that as few as possible are faced with the awful experience of having too little at Christmas to put on the table, especially those with young children.

A donation of between £25 and £30 will pay for a package of fresh food to support a local family over the Christmas holidays.

We know that not all our readers will be able to give that much, but we want you to know that small donations add up and make a BIG impact. So please give what you can.

Last year your generosity did so much to bring relief to those struggling. Working with the Living Room – a café, community larder and safe community space in Commercial Road, Hereford – you hit our £2,000 appeal target to ensure that 70 struggling families were sent festive parcels.

Please respond with as much generosity this year.
