A FARMER was left seriously hurt following a crash which has closed a road on the Herefordshire border.

The tractor driver was on foot at the back of his vehicle when the car crashed into him leaving him with a serious leg injury.

The B4204 in Clifton-upon-Teme, between Bromyard and Stourport-on-Severn, near the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border at Upper Sapey, was closed following the crash, and emergency services were still at the scene late on Tuesday (December 6).

West Mercia Police said the crash was between a tractor and a BMW 3 Series.

A spokesperson said: "Around 9am this morning (December 6) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the B4204 near Clifton upon Teme.

"The collision involved a tractor and a BMW 3 Series. The tractor driver was on foot at the rear of the vehicle and suffered a serious leg injury in the collision.

"Officers are currently in attendance alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance services.

"The road is closed while the vehicles are recovered."

Worcestershire County Council Highways and Travel confirmed the closure was between the village centre and Old Road.

Drivers were asked to seek alternative routes.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.52am to a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian, a car and a tractor at the junction of the B4204 and Old Road.

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found the pedestrian. He had sustained serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

"He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital for further assessment.”

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue did not attend.
