The crews at Leominster and Tenbury fire stations are both retained – this means they are on-call and live and/or work locally and respond to calls when they are needed.

The fire services said full training, uniform and personal development is provided and there are many opportunities to gain additional skills and qualifications that will be of use outside the fire service.

There are also weekly training sessions, usually held on a weekday evening.

Hereford Fire Station is the only station in the county to be staffed by “wholetime” crews.
