A HEREFORDSHIRE restaurant has won a place on the AA Restaurant Guide 2023.

The Riverside at Aymestrey, near Wigmore, was awarded two rosettes for its high standards.

AA is such a well-recognised and respected symbol in food and restaurants.

This news follows the team winning the best sustainable pub award at the Great British Pub Awards 2022 and chef/patron Andy Link winning pub chef of the year and West Midlands pub of the year at the National Pub and Bar Awards during the summer.

Mr Link said that after facing so many challenges, from flooding and Covid to rising energy bills, the awards mean so much to all the team.

He said: “It is such amazing news for all our team, am I so fortunate to have such a hardworking and passionate team who share in our dream to create a sustainable pub and restaurant that supports and showcases for amazing producers and ingredients we have on our doorstep."

AA's Restaurant Guide for 2023 provides food lovers with breakdowns of restaurants by county, with detailed descriptions of each destination, information on latest chef changes, opening times, sample menu prices and images of many of the featured locations.

Two rosettes are given to ‘excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency’.

They are recognised for greater precision in the cooking, and obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients.

The Riverside is based in a 16th-century black and white building on the Southern Edge of Mortimer’s Forest, surrounded by the natural beauty of the River Lugg valley and is run by Andy Link and George Parks.

It also offers accommodation, with four traditional rooms within the main 16th Century building, and two external suites with original 400-year-old beams and feature stone walls.
