IT WAS A busy day for firefighters in Herefordshire with several calls to incidents in the county yesterday.

A crew from Hereford was called to Whittern Way in Tupsley at 1.17pm yesterday (September 26), a fire service spokesperson said, where they worked to release a person stuck on a stair lift.

Two crews from Hereford were also called to a fire in the open in the Belmont area of Hereford at 8.24pm, using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.

And firefighters from Leintwardine were called to the aid of colleagues over the borer in Shropshire at 11.12.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the call was to Bedstone College in Bucknell. The crew from Leintwardine was joined by two fire crews from Clun, finding that the incident was a false alarm caused by dust and insects entering a fire detector.
