Hereford Town Hall will host a vigil in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II this weekend.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire last Thursday (September 8).

Commemoration services will take place across the country this weekend, ahead of the state funeral to be held at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19.

A statement from Hereford City Council said that on Sunday, September 18 at 7.55pm, members of the community will gather outside Hereford Town Hall for a brief vigil for Queen Elizabeth II.

Joining with people across the United Kingdom in a moment of silent reflection, there will be a one minute silence at the event followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

Hereford City Council are encouraging members of the public to attend if they wish to do so.
