IT'S "business as usual" at Bulmers as parent company Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) prepares for a £7.8 billion takeover by brewing giants Heineken and Carlsberg.

This week, S&N shareholders backed the sale of Britain's biggest brewer, but the deal still needs to be sealed in court later this month.

Heineken and Carlsberg have already said that they will break up S&N's business, with the former taking over the UK arm, which includes Bulmers.

Fenella Tyler, for Bulmers, said that it was business as usual as far as the Herefordshire operation was concerned, with Heineken "enthusiastic" about the opportunities offered by the cider market.

In January, Bulmers stressed that all its current contracts with fruit growers in the county were safe as the S&N board agreed to the buy-out offer.
