HUNDREDS of crimes are still under investigation after they were reported in Herefordshire in June, while police have been unable to charge anyone in hundreds more.

As part of a monthly series, the Hereford Times is charting every crime in the county on an interactive map for readers to stay on top of what is happening and where.

This month, our map reveals the location of every crime reported to West Mercia Police in June 2022 (the latest available full month of data).

The map shows location, type of offence, and outcome or current status of the police investigation.

Readers can use the online tool to see what happened near their homes, schools and places of work and build an understanding of the county’s crime hotspots.

By far the greatest number of reported offences were violent and sexual offences, with a total of 534 such offences reported in the county, up from 495 in May.

OTHER NEWS:

This was followed by anti-social behaviour, with 239 reports, down from 243 in May, public order, with 135 reports, up from 103, theft, with 105 reports, up from 100, and criminal damage and arson, with 87 reports, up from 84.

The least reported crimes were theft from the person (five), and robbery (two).

But, the police map shows, 598 of those offences are still under investigation, while no-one could be prosecuted in 270 cases, and 185 investigations have been completed with no suspect identified.
