A PEEK into a garden of 'rooms', an insight into the scale of an industrial site and a view of a magnificent viaduct are among the highlights of a new book.

Michael Whitefoot, a landscape photographer based on the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border, has published a new book featuring dozens of pictures from across Herefordshire.

It comprises 170 postcard-style photographs of iconic county scenes and landmarks, many of them spectacular aerial shots.

Mr Whitefoot said: "Whether we live in the area or are just visiting, there’s no better reminder of our favourite places than a picture postcard.

“I decided to bring together my most popular Herefordshire postcards and other local photos into a single volume to create a permanent souvenir of what is one of the most historic and attractive counties in England.”

Alongside vistas of Hereford, the book captures towns such as Leominster, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Bromyard, as well the county’s iconic black-and-white villages and stunning surrounding countryside.

Other photos capture the beauty of the Malvern Hills, and Herefordshire’s many historic buildings, landmarks and attractions. Each chapter begins with an introduction to the areas covered.

The new book complements a similar volume of Worcestershire images that Mr Whitefoot launched last year.

“I hope the book brings some long-lasting memories of everyone’s favourite Herefordshire locations,” he said.

Postcards from Herefordshire is available now from Waterstones, Oakchurch, the Hop Pocket, Hereford Cathedral, Tourist Information Centres, gift and card shops, as well as online from www.michaelwhitefoot.co.uk, where it costs £20.
