A DRUNKEN and swearing Hereford man has been up before the magistrates after lying in a doorway and assaulting a police officer.
Luke Berry entered guilty pleas when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster,
The court heard that Berry, who is subject to a community protection notice, had failed to comply with the notice by lying in a doorway, stopping members of the public from entering a venue in Hereford while swearing and shouting at them, causing alarm and distress, on June 21.

The 28-year-old had also assaulted a police officer acting in the course of their duties by beating in Hereford on the same date.
Magistrates said the offences were serious as Berry has a record of similar offences, was intoxicated, and was on licence at the time.
Berry, who is of no fixed address, was jailed for six weeks and must pay compensation of £50 to the police officer.
