EIGHT roads will be closed in Herefordshire for up to a week next month as the surfaces are improved.

Balfour Beatty Living Places, Herefordshire Council's road contractor, has revealed which surfaces will be dressed in the second phase of its programme of work for 2022.

In a public notice, the council gave a list of roads that will be closed from July 12.

They are:

  • A449 from Chances Pitch, near Ledbury: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • A449 from Chances Pitch to Worcestershire boundary, near Ledbury: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • A40 Hildersley to Weston-under-Penyard, near Ross-on-Wye: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • A40 from Lower Weston Farm to Wyeford, near Ross-on-Wye: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4219 from A4103 to Crumpton Oakes Access, near Ledbury: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4224 from Mordiford Bridge to Fiddlers Green, near Hereford: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4224 Hampton Park Road to Mordiford Bridge, near Hereford: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • C1228 junction with C1226 to Haywood Road, Callow, near Hereford: three days
  • C1228 from B4348 to Haywood Road, Callow, near Hereford: three days
  • C1108 from Upper Derndale to C1109, Wellington, near Hereford: three days
  • C1108 from A4110 to Upper Derndale, Canon Pyon, near Hereford: three days
  • B4361 Hereford Road, Marlbrook, near Leominster: three days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4361 Hereford Road, Ford Bridge, near Leominster: three days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4361 Hereford Road, Wharton, near Leominster: three days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4361 Hereford Road, Elms Green, near Leominster: three days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B4399 from Gatehouse Road to Rotherwood, Rotherwas, Hereford: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm
  • B439 from Rotherwood to Dinedor Mill Bridge, Dinero, near Hereford: four days 9.30am until 3.30pm

Herefordshire Council said the closures would be required due to surface dressing works and the likelihood o danger to the public while these works are taking place.

Surface dressing involves spraying hot bitumen onto the road surface before adding chippings and rolling it.

The surface is usually then swept after 24 hours, 48 hours and a week later to remove any loose chippings, before road markings are replaced.
