LOOKING to discover the perfect place in north Herefordshire to enjoy a delicious breakfast or brunch with friends and family?

Breakfasts in Britain are among the best in the world, but how good are they close to home?

Since lockdown ended last year the independent Tuesday Breakfast Club have visited 44 restaurants and cafés in search of the Best Full English Breakfast in north Herefordshire.

The club says assessing these proved to be a tough, but "thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable task, with marks awarded for quality, presentation, value for money, service and ambience".

Over the 11-month period the team were able to take the search into the nearby north Herefordshire border towns of Ludlow and Tenbury Wells in addition to those within the county boundary.

Top of the tree and being named by the group as the Best Full English Breakfast in north Herefordshire was the Fishermans Arms, Docklow – albeit by the slimmest of margins.

“The quality, efficiency and value-for-money of the freshly cooked breakfasts is off the scale. Absolutely top-notch.”

Second place

The rustic and quirky Cattle Shed café at Penrhos Court in Lyonshall was awarded five stars for serving up the tastiest of breakfasts.

“Penrhos Court may not exactly be a best-kept secret, due to it being a former celebrities hideaway, but the Cattle Shed café most certainly is,” the group concluded.

“It’s spacious and has easily accessible parking.

“The ambience is brilliant and the staff couldn’t be more helpful.”

Most unique

Indeed, CSONS from the Mill on the Green, Linney was considered to have served the most unique of top-quality breakfasts in a lovely setting next to the River Teme.

“It’s actually quite hard to conceive a genuinely original breakfast menu without looking like you’re trying too hard or reinventing the wheel,” the group added.
