A CRASH driver has been banned after hitting a parked car and leaving the scene in Hereford.

Patrycja Parda admitted being in charge of a car while over the limit and failing to stop after a crash when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Police were called to Hereford's Hunderton Road after a woman living in the area heard her crashing into the roundabout and coming to a stop in the entrance of Charles Witts Avenue on April 14, prosecutor Melanie Winterflood said.

The witness said she heard a distressed sounding Parda talking on her phone before seeing her get back into her Ford Fiesta and drive off, swerving in the road as she did.

Parda was found by police in Charles Witts Avenue, where she had admitted she had been involved in a crash and was arrested after failing a breath test, while a damaged parked car she had hit was found nearby.

An evidential breath test in custody revealed she had 43 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Philip Cornell, for Parda, said the 23-year-old works with disadvantaged children, but will have to give that up as a result of her conviction.

"She loves that, but it is now gone," Mr Cornell said.

"She will now have to try very hard to get back to what she was doing, as with a conviction it could be really difficult to get a job with children. This has been a real life-changer for her."

The court heard Parda had been staying with a friend that evening, parking her car on their drive. But she had decided to move her car when the friend's parents returned home, to allow them to park on the drive instead.

"She crashed, thought she could not stop in the middle of the road, and moved her car down the road, where she parked," Mr Cornell said.

Parda, of Crest Court, Hereford, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £200. She must also pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
