A FARE dodger has been up before the magistrates after failing to pay for his train journey.

Charles Potter entered a guilty plea to magistrates in Cardiff.

The court heard the 49-year-old had travelled on a Transport for Wales rail service between Ledbury and Cardiff without paying his £29.90 fare and with intent to avoid paying it on November 6.

Potter, who is of Oatleys Road, Ledbury, was fined £146 and ordered to pay compensation of £29.90.

He must also pay costs of £179 and a £34 victim surcharge.
