THE main road which links a number of Herefordshire villages is set to close for eight days, Herefordshire Council has said.

In a public notice, it said the B4348, which runs from Hay-on-Wye and down through the Golden Valley to the A465 at Allensmore, would be shut east of Dorstone so new gullies, a manhole, kerbs and tarmacking can take place.

The work, which will take place from Monday, May 9, would allow water to flow into the new gullies, it said.

The closure will be needed due to the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place.

The road will be closed between Newton Middlewood to Cross Lodge, outside Little Llanafon Farm.

The diversion for those affected is via the B4348 to the B4352 through Moccas and Madley and vice versa.

The road links a number of Golden Valley villages including Dorstone, Peterchurch and Vowchurch.
