TRIBUTES have continued to pour in from the football community for Redditch United midfielder Thomas Rankin who has died.

Redditch United announced the midfielder’s passing in a statement yesterday (March 27).

Rankin had played for the Reds for the past three seasons and had also played at Bromsgrove Sporting during his career.

A statement from Redditch United released on Sunday read: “Redditch United are devastated to hear of passing of midfielder Thomas Rankin.

“Tom has been with the Reds for the past three seasons and his loss will be felt by all at the Club. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

“RIP Tom.”

Tributes have poured in from around the football community for Rankin, who was aged in his 20s.

Kidderminster Harriers tweeted: “On behalf of everyone at Aggborough, our thoughts and wishes are with all at Redditch United and especially Thomas’s family and friends at what is a truly sad time.”

 

 

 

Rankin’s former club Leamington FC paid tribute on Twitter with: “Our sincere condolences to everybody at Redditch and to Tom's friends and family. He played for us briefly upon our return to the National League North 5 years ago. A truly sad loss. Thoughts are with all who knew him.”

AFC Rushen & Diamonds, who beat Redditch 3-1 at the Trico Stadium on Saturday, paid their respects with: “Having been with you all yesterday, We are devastated to read this awful news this afternoon. Our thoughts are with you all and with Tom’s friends & family.”

 

Stourbridge Town added their tribute on social media, writing: "Utterly devastating news. Our thoughts are with his family and our good friends @RedditchUtd. RIP Tom”

His former club Bromsgrove Sporting added: "Devastating news, everyone's thoughts @sportingfc are with his family at this extremely sad time. RIP Tom"
