BONES have been strewn across the A49 between Leominster and Shrewsbury.

Eyewitnesses said people had to drive over the animal bones, which were spread across the Rocksgreen Road roundabout, next to Sainsbury’s in Ludlow.

Police were at the scene on Thursday afternoon, they said.

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: “At about 1.45pm today (March 17) we had several calls reporting that a lorry had shed its load of meat carcasses on the A49.

“This has now been cleared by the highways department.”

Shropshire Council has been contacted for comment.
