A HEREFORDSHIRE bus company will be adding new routes to its services amid cuts to others in the county.

Sargeant Brothers said it made the decision to add the new routes after listening to customer feedback.

These include an E route round Moor Farm via the cemetery and a C route from Tupsley to Hampton Park via Sudbury Avenue, covering some of the stops from its old 75 route.

A D route to Bobblestock via Whitecross and Yazor Road has also been added to cover some stops of the cancelled 72 service.

It will also be changing the timings of its current city circular routes - the A route to Tupsley and Hampton Park circular route will run from 7.10am to 5.33pm.

The B route to Bobblestock will also change, it will run from 7.12am to 6.25pm.

The changes will come into force on Monday, March 7.

It comes after Yeomans Travel, which said it had been a family-owned company for more than 100 years, ditched a number of key city routes.

It said passenger numbers had halved since 2019 and it needed to take action to protect its future.

It meant the Old School Lane-based company was ditching most of its commercial bus services in the city of Hereford, with the last day being December 31.

Herefordshire Council said it had tried to persuade Yeomans to continue until April 2022, but it didn't agree. Since then, Kington-based Sargeants stepped in to save some routes.
