A MOTHER, her 11-year-old daughter – and their pet hamster – had to be rescued at a Brecon Beacons beauty spot after a walk turned out to be longer than they had expected.

The mum and daughter, as well as their furry friend, named Frappuccino, who are all visiting Mid Wales from the London area, were found by the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team at the foot of the Brecon Beacons in Powys as darkness fell on Tuesday, February 15.

The duo/trio had been walking from Dinas Rock to Sgwd Yr Eira – in the area known as Waterfall Country, between Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte – when the mum had began to struggle. The team was contacted by Dyfed Powys Police and came to the assistance of the two females and their cute companion.
